ROLFING® & Functional Neurology

Manual Therapy & Movement Education

Feel more connection & Clarity

Welcome To
True Balance Rolfing® & functional neurology

My name is Aline Wachsmuth-Ketley and I am a Certified Advanced Rolfer™ & P-DTR® Practitioner currently working in Marin County, CA.

The intention of my work is to help you feel more connection and clarity in your body and mind.

I integrate two modalities in my practice: Proprioceptive Deep Tendon Reflex (P-DTR®) and Advanced Rolfing® Structural Integration to problem solve why certain movement and pain patterns persist.

P-DTR® is a treatment modality developed by Dr. Jose Palomar that addresses dysfunction within the Central Nervous System (CNS). Our brains and bodies constantly process stimuli, responding reflexively to maintain homeostasis and safety. When we experience a stimulus that is too intense for our system, our CNS reads it as trauma and highlights those pathways making them hypersensitive as a form of protection. These adaptive responses persist and dysfunction can manifest as tight muscles, weakness or pain. P-DTR® effectively assesses for these neurologic glitches and treats them with precise stimulus and reflexes to reset the dysfunctional pathways, restoring appropriate responses, reducing chronic sensitivity, and improving muscular, organ and mental efficiency.

In our work together, I will test for normal muscle function (contraction and inhibition). When there is weakness or hypertonicity (a muscle reflexively stuck in contraction), I will look for nerve receptor locations and types to reset, restoring normal function. In addition to the neurological reset, I will use traditional Rolfing techniques to hydrate fascia, increase circulation and encourage normal joint movement. Movement education increases your awareness of new pathways to explore in daily life. Adaptability and efficiency are two of my goals for all of my clients.

Your unique experiences have shaped you. Acknowledging the impact of these physical, chemical and emotional traumas allows us to explore how they manifest in terms of function. let’s reset these pathways and remind your body of what balance feels like.

“When the body gets working appropriately, the force of gravity can flow through.

Then, spontaneously, the body heals itself.”

—Ida P. Rolf Ph.D.

What People Are Saying

“Aline is a truly gifted healer, combining keen insight into the body and its mechanics, a firm and gentle touch, and a compassionate presence. These wonderful qualities cohere into an amazing experience in her office and beyond.

I am also a bodyworker by calling, and I am in awe. I have had a combination of old injuries and current difficulties that emerged into an excruciating situation that was both physically and emotionally debilitating for me and my work.

Within the first session, she helped identify the presenting imbalances, as well as the underlying infrastructure of what was being held and then she worked in stages to alleviate and support all of it.

I am currently moving with ease and a freedom I haven't experienced in a very long time. I'm feeling very blessed to have her show up when and as she did. Wonderful!”

— James

“After I had tried every different type of bodywork, I was about to give up hope to get any permanent relief from this constant pain around my hips and back. Rolfing gave me the best help of all but after I tried a few, still I had not found the cure.

Until I found Aline. She is the most enthusiastic and skilled of all the practitioners I had tried. Her hands and arm knew exactly what was going on with the tissue. She seems to be actively engaged with each spot that needs extra time and attention to release.

She's not arrogant, distant, or cynical as so many in the health care field can be. She comes across very sweet and caring, with a lot of dedicated energy to help you. Not only is she sensitive, strong, agile but highly competent.  Her pressure was just right, always inquiring if it was too much or not enough, and then moved exactly along the line of tension.

She knew exactly where the tissues needed release, asking me to move and stretch under her hands. The session was intense but oddly not painful. During the session, it was fascinating to learn that I carried pain and tension in places that I had not known about.

Highly recommend you see her.”

"The thing that felt unique about working with Aline, is her absolute passion for and acute understanding of the body and its possibilities. Her lifelong practice as a dancer at the highest levels has clearly influenced her practice as a bodyworker.

She is truly gifted in collaborating with a client in the process of helping them become clearer and more balanced in the understanding of how to inhabit their body with more ease and freedom.

I was amazed how after each session I looked and felt different, and that in both my daily movements in life and in my pursuits as an athlete everything felt much more efficient and nuanced. She radiates a sense of care from the moment you walk into her beautiful office and begin the amazing journey that is a Rolf 10-Series.

I recommend her highly if you are dealing with any kind of chronic body impingements or pain, are an athlete seeking a competitive edge, or someone just wondering about what greater capacity and potential exists in your body."

What I Treat

  • True Balance Rolfing Helps Chronic Pain

    Chronic Pain

My approach is unique because it deals with not only the symptoms but also the patterns that limit us. The types of results people can expect when working to resolve chronic pain are often pain relief, increased ease in movement, energy, and freedom from old narratives.

  • True Balance Rolfing Helps Sports Injuries

    Sports Injuries

We will work toward structural integration and better whole system movement efficiency. Regular Rolfing® sessions can act as tune ups for athletes to stay in optimum functioning to avoid injuries. This work is also valuable for kids and teenagers who participate in team sports.

  • True Balance Rolfing Is Anti Aging

    Optimized Aging

Research has proven that fascia thickens with age, leading to a reduction in joint mobility. Rolfing sessions you maintain flexibility and balanced musculature. You’ll learn how to move in the best ways for your body to decrease pain and increase vitality, improving your quality of life at any age.

  • True Balance Rolfing Helps Repetitive Stress Injuries

    Repetitive Stress Injuries

Repetitive stress injuries are very common. Rolfing helps. For instance someone with carpal tunnel from typing all day will have strain through the nerve pathways of the hand, forearm, upper arm and scapulae. Working with the whole shoulder girdle provides longer lasting relief.
